YR Week Ending 12.1.18

Welcome back and may we take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Reception have settled straight back in and have had a great week joining the rest of the school learning all about ‘The Matchbox Diary’. We began on Tuesday with a special assembly and, since then, have been busy sharing the contents of our our matchboxes (many thanks for your help with these), painting our special memories, estimating and counting how many small objects we could fit into a matchbox and learning all about the days of the week.

Alongside this, we have been learning the digraphs ch, sh and th through our Jolly Phonics work, carried out Guided Reading and have continued with our regular Reading Challenge.

Next week, we will be writing about our special memories, thinking about the months of the year and learning the digraphs qu, ou and oi. We will also be introducing our new topic based on Toys, which will be included in all areas of the curriculum.

Homework for next week is for your child to bring in a photograph of their favourite toy. We will be using this as part of an activity, so we will not be able to return these to you! Many Thanks.
