YR Week Ending 16th March 2018

Reception have had an exciting week learning all about ‘Dear Zoo’. We have thought about doubling and halving numbers upto 20 and have been busy thinking about fractions by sharing food between the zoo animals. We have been learning actions to go with the story as part of our Talk for Writing unit of work, this will continue into next week and will end with the children having a go at independently writing the story.

We have also taken part in an animal sorting activity, as part of our Science work. The children came up with some great ways of classifying and sorting a variety of different animals! They explained the choices they had made with confidence and using super vocabulary.

Today has seen the first of our Woodland Learning sessions. Twenty pupils have spent the morning in our Woodland Area taking part in some brilliant activities. They had a great time learning in this exciting, different environment and we are looking forward to all of the children experiencing this addition to our Early Years curriculum over the next few months.

We look forward to welcoming one family member per child to our Family Activity session next Thursday, 22nd March 2.15-3.30pm. The theme will be Dear Zoo and there will be a variety of different activities to take part in with your child.

Homework for this week….please see your child’s homework folder. Reading challenge will continue. Please also continue to learn Tricky Words and complete home reading.

Many thanks for your continued support.
