Reception Week Ending 23.3.18

This week, we have continued our work on ‘Dear Zoo’! The children have done really well with learning their Talk for Writing actions to go with the story – this is helping them to produce some fantastic independent writing!

Maths Mastery has focused on the two digit numbers 11 and 12. We have been partitioning these focus numbers using part-part-whole diagrams and we have also had a great go at recording the matching number sentences. The children have loved this and have been so enthusiastic! Next week, we will be thinking about 2d and 3d shapes, measures and repeating patterns.

Our first group of Woodland Learners have enjoyed their second session in our school woodland and have produced some great clay work based on their explorations! Sessions will continue after the Easter holiday.

Many thanks to all family members who took time out to visit us for our Family Activity Session on Thursday afternoon. We all had a lovely afternoon and enjoyed the ‘Dear Zoo’ themed activities…including making Tiger biscuits! The event was really well supported, many thanks again.

Homework  – Simple sentence writing homework can be found in homework folders. Please encourage your child to think very carefully about sounding out the words they would like to write, letter formation and basic punctuation (capital letters, full stops and finger spaces). Home reading and Reading Challenge continue as normal. Please also remember to keep practising Tricky Words that were sent home at the last Parents’ Evening. After Easter, please ensure that your child has their Reading folder and its contents EVERYDAY, as there will be some changes to our usual reading days.

Appeal – Please send in any clean, empty egg cartons for an upcoming art topic and please save us washed green or red plastic lids off plastic milk cartons!

Many Thanks for your continued support.
