This week, we have been thinking about the story of Hansel and Gretel, thinking about 3d shapes and have continued to think about our topic of growth. We also had a trip out to Harvestfields Park. We walked to the park, thought about how to look after our local environment and thought about what we like and dislike about the park. On our return to school, we all drew a labelled map. The children enjoyed our trip, learned a lot and had great fun too!
Today, YR have been taking part in ‘Little Sutton’s Litter Pick’. We began the day with a special assembly to introduce the day. The children then shared the story of ‘The Messy Magpie’ and learned a song all about recycling. During the afternoon, the children took part in a litter pick. It was amazing how much litter we managed to find! Many thanks to Birmingham City Council, who supported us during the day.
Homework – Please see your child’s Homework Folder and continue with regular reading and the Reading Challenge. We will be sending updated Tricky Word lists home during the next two weeks for your child to continue to work on.
Information – Next Friday (18th) we are looking forward to our Royal BBQ! Children are asked to wear red, white and blue clothes to add to the sense of occasion! Keep your fingers crossed for good weather!
Woodland Learning will continue as planned (see previous letter). If you would like to send your child with a change of clothes for the celebration later in the day, then please feel free! Any queries, please ask a member of the YR Team!
