This week, we have been thinking all about The Little Red Hen! We have been writing instructions for making a jam sandwich (using the bread made by the Hen!) using imperative verbs (spread, cut, mix etc.), helping the Hen count in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s, sharing 10 bread rolls between the Hen’s 2 baskets and making our own dough by following a simple recipe. The children have loved measuring and mixing!
We have had an eggciting week with our Living Eggs! The incubator was delivered on Monday and hatching activity began on Tuesday evening….by Wednesday, we had 9 fluffy, healthy chicks! It has been great to be able to watch them via our live web cam – the link can be found on the Homepage of this website. The children love having them in Reception and it is a great start to our work on Lifecycles. They will stay with us next week too!
Homework – An activity sheet linked to The Little Red Hen can be found in your child’s Homework folder, with a choice of 2 practical activities. Please, as usual, continue with home reading and reading challenge books. Please also continue to practise the Tricky Words – these are invaluable when reading, but also when the children are writing.
