YR Week Ending 29.6.18

Reception have had another busy week…they are racing by! We have been thinking all about The Gingerbread Man.  The children have been learning all about ordinal numbers by creating and using their own obstacle courses and interpreting data in Maths Mastery.  We made a pictogram based on which part of a gingerbread man we all ate first! His head was very popular!

We have been writing character descriptions of the fox and trying to include brilliant adjectives and conjunctions (and, because) in our writing.  The children have also been writing speech bubbles for different characters. We have been busy making split pin gingerbread men, thinking about different holiday destinations with Barnaby Bear and practising for Sports’ Day!

Our work on The Gingerbread Man will continue next week and the children are very much looking forward to baking their own on Monday! We will be continuing with descriptive writing and thinking about subtraction related to the story.

Homework – Please see your child’s Homework Folder for a letter regarding homework for the last few weeks of term.  Your child has received their Bug Club log in details and we have allocated plenty of appropriate books for your child to enjoy.  We will replenish these as needed and your child can continue to access this brilliant and motivating resource over the Summer holiday.  Please also continue with Reading Challenge (not long to go now!), Tricky Words and normal home reading books.

Your child will have bought home a letter regarding our last Family Activity Session on Thursday 12th July (2.15-3.30). We hope that you will be able to join us for a lovely afternoon.

Many thanks for your continued support.
