YR Week Ending 13.7.18

Reception have had a great week learning all about The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  We have been retelling and rewriting the story, writing lists of food that the caterpillar ate, labelling food items and acting out the story in our Small World tray.  We have been thinking about ordering the days of the week and solving addition and subtraction problems linked to the story! We have also been busy thinking about the life cycle of the butterfly and watching, with fascination, the transformation of our caterpillars into cocoons! Next week, we are hoping to be able to release our butterflies!

The children welcomed their special family visitors into class, on Thursday, as we hosted our last Family Activity session of the academic year!  Many thanks to all of those that attended – the children loved having you into school to share their learning.  It was also lovely to catch up properly with so many of you at our Parents’ Open Evening too.

Homework – Please log on to Bug Club for access to an updated selection of appropriate books and related activities. We were pleased to be able to give out some very special certificates earlier in the week for some super Bug Club efforts! Keep up the hard work!  It would be lovely to see every member of the year group accessing this brilliant resource.

Please remember to return your completed parents’ questionnaire as soon as possible and any outstanding photograph orders need to be handed in by Monday 16th July.

Many Thanks

Reception Staff
