This week YR have started learning a new story in Talk for Writing: We’re Going on a Bear Hunt! The children will be completing cloze procedure activities to develop their writing skills; making their own binoculars and bear masks to practise using a variety of tools and resources; using the scooters in our outdoor area to search for tricky words on bear paw prints; and using our tuff tray and storytelling areas to retell the story independently.
Our rhyme of the week is ‘The Grand Old Duke of York’. In Phonics, we will continue recapping our tricky words and sounds, and consolidating and applying our knowledge through reading and writing sentences.
In Maths Mastery, we will be exploring subtracting one from a variety of different numbers and thinking about the rhyme ‘Ten Green Bottles’. The children will be thinking of different ways of representing their learning in their Maths Journals.
Literacy – in literacy we will be exploring onomatopoeia through We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
Maths – we are thinking about ascending, descending, subtraction, take away and difference.
Please remember to check your child’s orange homework folder for this week’s written homework.
