This week, YR will continue learning the story Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. We will be thinking about our favourite animal from the story and writing about why we like them! The children will also have a go at making their own Dear Zoo mini-books, paper plate craft animals linked to the story, working together to draw a big map of a zoo to include paths and enclosures and using the class computers to draw their own zoo animals.
Our rhyme of the week is ‘Five Little Speckled Frogs’. In Phonics, we will continue recapping our tricky words and sounds, and consolidating and applying our knowledge through writing sentences containing tricky words and unscrambling sentences including poly-syllabic words!
In Maths Mastery, we will continue counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and will be engaging in explorative activities in order to consolidate our learning on shape, space and measure.
We will be keeping hold of your homework folders over the Easter break. Please continue to practise tricky words. If your child is able to read them, they can apply their knowledge by putting the words into sentences.
We would also love to hear about what you have been up to in the holidays – perhaps write a brief diary of the things you have been doing, or send us a postcard from wherever you may be visiting (even from any exciting day trips!) for our ‘Where in the World’ display board.
We hope that you have a happy, restful Easter!
Many thanks for all of your support this term.
