YR are having a super week – they have really been impressing us and a few visitors, too!
In Literacy, we have continued work on our Talk for Writing story ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We have been putting ourselves in the shoes of the Gingerbread Man and writing about where we would go if we were him and managed to escape Granny’s oven! We have been applying our phonic and tricky word knowledge in our independent writing and have been retelling the story using stick puppets in our small world tray.
Our rhyme of the week is ‘Ten in the Bed’. In Phonics, we continuing our work on our tricky words and sounds, and exploring reading and writing two-syllable words.
In Maths Mastery, we are working on mastering ‘subtracting 2’! We have been making lots of links within our learning to help us. We have been representing subtraction on part-part-whole models and verbalising our reasoning as we work to solve problems.
Please remember to check your child’s orange homework folder for this week’s homework. The link to the Topmarks Gingerbread Man Game is: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/gingerbread-man-game
