Year Six Homework – week beginning 9/9/19

Welcome back. We hope you have had a fabulous weekend and are ready for the week ahead. You should have received your targets for the year, curriculum notes and reading challenges on Friday – if there are any queries, please do not hesitate to come and speak to us about them. Also, many thanks for the photos, postcards and completed autobiography plans. If these haven’t come into school yet please can they be brought in ASAP.

Please find below an overview of the homework for this week:

Monday – Spellings. These can be accessed on Spellanywhere and need to be learned for 16/9/19

Tuesday – Topic. The children need to know the location as many of the key features of the UK as possible. This includes countries, borders, capital cities, major rivers, mountains and other major cities, including Birmingham. We will be using their knowledge to identify features on a map on 17/9/19

Wednesday – English – research and make notes for a biography about a friend or family member. A planning sheet has been provided and a copy can also be accessed below.

Thursday- Maths – the children need to complete the sheet provided and hand it in to their Maths group by 18/9/19

Friday – Reading. The children need to be reading at least three times a week. Please refer to the reading challenge and bring in on a Tuesday for staff to update and acknowledge any progress made with challenges.

Next week anyone who is interested in becoming part of the school bank team needs to write a letter of application.

In the letter, addressed to Sandra Howse, they would need to explain the following:-

1.       What job they want to apply for and why they would be good at it? The qualities they have for the job should be included here.

2.       How they would promote the Schoolbank within school?

3.       What are their hobbies and interests OUTSIDE school?

The jobs that are on offer are Bank Manager, Cashier, Record Keeper, Customer Adviser and Marketing Manager.

Anyone who wants to apply will have an interview with Sandra from HSBC on Wednesday 18th September and if they would like to bring in a smart outfit (although it is not necessary) for this they are more than welcome.

Also, please make sure if you are interested in completing the Rotary Award this year (information available on Wednesday) then let us know by Wednesday 18th September so folders can be sourced and plans can be made.

Thank you for all of your hard work and support. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to come in to speak to us.

Have a good week,

Kind regards,

The Year Six Team x
