YEAR 1 HOME LEARNING – MONDAY 6TH JULY

Dear Parents,

We hope you are remaining well. We will be running another zoom meeting for each class on Wednesday 8th July. The website link and password for these meetings are exactly the same as the first catch up session two weeks ago. If you require these details then please send an email to the class email address. The 1JS meeting will take place at 4pm and the 1JF meeting will take place at 4.30pm.

Below are the weekly resources to support your child’s home learning. Please DO NOT complete these tasks if your child is now attending school.

Creating a healthy fruit salad

As part of our ‘Healthy Living’ topic, we had planned for the children to bring in fruit to create a healthy salad in school. Due to obvious health and safety reasons, this is no longer possible.

Therefore, we would love it if the children can make a healthy fruit salad at home and email some photographs to the class email addresses for us to share in school!

Reading

Please continue with the daily phonics lessons and reading on Collins ebooks and Bug Club. Education City also has reading activities available.

On Monday, you will receive an email to inform you of the book your child should read over the week.

Writing

This week, the children in school will be completing their Talk for Writing based on the ‘We Found a Hat’ story. The flipchart, model text and two useful YouTube clips (including the read aloud story) can be found below:

Please see the work overview document at the top of this page for further information about how to complete this unit.

We would also like the children to continue practising their handwriting skills. Here is a PDF document with blank handwriting lines for your child to practise their lower case letters.

Lesson 2 – Sketching a lion face

Please follow the above video to complete a lion face. The children in school will then be sticking this onto a background ‘wash’ which they will be painting in school. If you have paints at home, you may also wish to do this. Alteratively, be imaginative and create a background using different media!

Best wishes and take care,

Mr Storer and Miss Faulkner
