Dear Parents,
Welcome back to another year at Little Sutton Primary School. We hope you enjoyed the summer holidays and we look forward to working with you and your child this year.
These curriculum notes are intended to give you an idea of the topics your child will be studying during the Autumn Term. We have also written a reminder with regards to medication and equipment needed in school. Details with regards to homework are also included.
We hope that these notes will enable you to support your child with the work they are carrying out at school by providing them with opportunities to extend their knowledge of the subjects. We would also appreciate you supporting them to complete homework to a high standard and return it on time as well as ensuring they have all the equipment they will need.

The children will change their reading book twice a week (usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays). Children are expected to read with their parents every day. Please ensure that you write a comment in their reading records so we can track their progress. After half term, there will also be additional homework once a week, based on topics covered in lessons. The children will be given a full week to complete it. Information of what to do will be posted on the school website.
Spellings
Spellings will be stuck into the back of spelling books and they will be tested in the front. Please do not practise spellings in these books. Spellings will always be available on SpellAnywhere, accessible from the school website. We encourage you and your child to use this as it is a fun way to practise the week’s spellings. If you cannot access the week’s spellings, please let the Year 1 staff know.
