Welcome back to the Summer Term in YR. We hope that you all managed to have an enjoyable break over Easter and were able to enjoy the sunshine!
We are starting back with a new text for the next two weeks. The children will be learning all about ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ by Mick Inkpen and Nick Butterworth. The book will form the basis for both our Maths and Literacy lessons and also some of our topic work. We will be thinking about sequencing the days of the week, estimating small quantities, capacity (full, half full, empty), learning the story with actions for our Talk for Writing and thinking about the order of the story.
We will finish our topic of ‘Playgrounds’ this week and will begin to think about ‘Holidays in the Past’ , ‘Growing’ and ‘The Wide World’.
Our Rhyme of the Week is Ten Green Bottles.
We will be learning all about adjacent consonants during our Phonics lessons and applying our learning to our reading.
Homework will be sent out on Wednesday, so please keep an eye out for your child’s folder! Please return the following Monday. New words will be placed in word tubs on Friday – please practise these with your child. Reading and Reading challenge will continue as before the holiday. Please ensure that your child has their reading folder with them everyday!
Please contact us with any questions or queries!
