We hope that you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine! The children had a brilliant first week back last week and settled back in straight away after the Easter break.
Our Rhyme of the Week this week is: One Two, Buckle my Shoe – please help your child to practice this at home!
We will continue to learn all about ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ this week. The children have been learning the story during our Talk for Writing sessions and will begin to write their own imitations of the story. We will be encouraging the children to think carefully about letter formation, segmenting, ambitious vocabulary and basic punctuation when they are writing.
We will continue to learn about adjacent consonants during our Phonics lessons and will be practising and applying our newly acquired knowledge during our reading sessions.
Maths Mastery will focus on money and looking at 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins. We will be practising our estimating skills from last week and applying these to money. The children will also be practising using the coins to make small totals and give change.
During our afternoon lessons, we will be learning all about Holidays (past and present), Growing and the Wide World.
Homework will be sent home on Wednesday, as usual. Please encourage and support your child to complete this and return on the following Monday. Reading Challenge books will be changed on Friday and new words placed in your child’s word tub. Your child will also be reading in class, so please ensure your child has their reading folder and contents with them on a daily basis.
