Today, YR have begun a new two week Literacy unit all about ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We are thinking all about suitable adjectives to describe the fox and using them to build super sentences! The children are doing lots of writing and are applying all of the phonics that we have learned so far. The children are doing so well with their sentence writing and remembering their capital letters, full stops and finger spaces! We will also be making split pin Gingerbread Men and baking real ones towards the end of the week. Yummy!
In Maths Mastery this week, we will be creating a class pictogram to display which part of a gingerbread man we all bite into first! What will be the most popular – his head, right leg, left arm?! Time will tell! After collecting and displaying our data, we will be interpreting it as a class. We will also be practising counting in increments of 2, 5 and 10.
Work will continue on our Growing topic and we are watering the beans we all planted over the last two weeks. Some signs of growth are starting to appear and the children are very excited.
Our Rhyme of the Week is: Sing a Song of Sixpence
Homework and Reading/Reading Challenge will continue as normal this week. Please ensure your child has their Reading Folder on a daily basis and their Reading Challenge book to change on Friday.
APPEAL: Please send any unwanted buttons into us!! Also, please save us any clean green or red plastic milk carton lids! Thank you!
Thank you for your continued support, we can’t believe we only have one more week until half term!
