YR Update Monday 24th May

This week in YR, we will be continuing our work on ‘The Gingerbread Man’. The children did so well writing their character descriptions about the fox last week and this week we will continue with descriptive writing using ambitious adjectives, for example, cunning and tenacious!  The children will also be drawing their own story maps and retelling the story using small world resources and character masks.

In Maths Mastery, we will be focusing on ordinal numbers and carrying out simple subtraction. This will be linked to The Numberblocks and we will be using lots of practical apparatus and resources both inside the classroom and in our outside area.

We will be finishing off our topics on Growing, Holidays and The Wide World before starting new topics after the half term holiday.

Our Rhyme of the Week for this week is Hush Little Baby, please encourage your child to practise this at home.

Homework will be sent out, as usual, on Wednesday and will need to be handed in on the Monday after half term.  Due to the Inset day on Friday, Reading Challenge books will not be changed. Please ensure that your child has their Reading Folder and contents with them every day, as our usual reading groups will be going ahead.

Please continue to send us in any unwanted buttons and clean plastic green/red milk container tops! Thank you for those we have received already!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support over this half term and hope that you have a restful half term holiday (hopefully, with a bit of sunshine!).
