We hope that you have all had a lovely weekend enjoying the sunshine!!
We were all very excited about the hatching of our hen’s eggs last week and the children were fascinated to see how much the chicks had grown over the weekend! It has been lovely to see their awe and wonder for our learning about lifecycles. This will continue this week with more lessons based on our classroom visitors. They will then be collected on Friday to start their new life on the farm! We will be having some different visitors next week to continue our work on lifecycles!
This week in Literacy, we will be continuing to think about ‘Rosie’s Walk’. The children are doing a fantastic job of learning the story and the corresponding actions. All of the children will have a go at writing an imitation of the story in the coming weeks. We will been encouraging them to use time connectives and our ambitious word ‘oblivious’!
During Maths Mastery, we will be continuing to learn about two digit numbers with a focus on 11-20. We will be thinking carefully about place value and the the importance of ordering the digits correctly. We will be doing lots of work using ten frames to help with our understanding and fluency.
As well as learning about lifecycles, we will be thinking about ‘forgiving’ and ‘journeys’.
Our Rhyme of the Week is ‘Jack and Jill’.
Homework arrangements will be as normal – sent home on Wednesday and returned the following Monday please. Pupils will continue to read everyday in school so please ensure your child has their folder, and contents, everyday. Please use you child’s word tub to continue practising the words already sent home – after becoming fluent with reading them please practise spelling them!
We are very excited to be able to take Reception on their first school trip of the year! We will be visiting Ashend Farm on Monday 28th June. All details can be found on the letter bought home recently. Please see us with any questions or queries. We are really looking forward to a lovely day out with the children, continuing our learning on lifecycles.
Many thanks for your continued support,
The Reception Team
