We have begun our first full-time week with our Reception children this week!
They have already amazed us with their independence and resilience!
In YR this week, we will be continuing our Baseline activities and working on our daily routines and expectations. Throughout the week, we will be sharing a selection of texts by our Author of the Term – Julia Donaldson.
We have started our Phonics lessons and will be covering the sounds (phonemes) /s/ /a/ /t/ and /p/. We will also be practising our oral blending and letter formation. We are looking forward to seeing you for our Phonics Workshop on the 24th of September at 2:15pm.
On Friday, we will be changing the Reading Challenge books that the children brought home last week. Please ensure that your child has their book in school on this day. Don’t forget that this is a book to share with an adult – your child is not expected to be able to read it!! It might make a great bedtime story! Please remember to fill in their Reading Challenge passport so that they can collect their rewards along the way.
The children have been doing so well in the dinner hall – we are really proud of them all. Please continue to practise using a knife and fork effectively – especially the cutting of food – to help with your child’s independence at mealtimes.
Please ensure that all items of uniform (including shoes!) are clearly labelled with their names, so that we can match items up with the correct children. We would hate anyone to lose anything, especially this early on in the half term!
You should have received a general reminders letters recently. Please ask a member of the Team if you have any questions or queries.
Many thanks for your support and we look forward to brilliant year ahead,
Mrs Farmer and Miss Faulkner
REMINDER: YR children are to come dressed in their PE kits ready for our sessions on a Monday and Friday.
