This week in YR, we will be continuing to learn some new Phase 2 sounds. We will be learning h, b, f and l and introducing the tricky word ‘the’. Look out for this appearing in your child’s word tub at the end of the week! Please continue to practise ‘I’ and ‘is’ alongside the new addition! Oral and teacher led blending will also continue. Reading Practice sessions will held throughout the week, so please ensure that your child has their reading folder and contents with them every day.
We are starting to learn a new Talk for Writing story this week – ‘Stuck in the Mud’. We are learning to tell the story orally and to join in with accompanying actions. Please see the link to our ambitious vocabulary and our story below. It would be brilliant if the children could perform the story at home for you with their actions!
Our Rhyme of the Week is Miss Polly had a Dolly. The children are already enjoying performing this one complete with actions!
In our Maths Mastery sessions, we will be thinking all about comparison and the associated vocabulary. We will be covering bigger/smaller, more/fewer, taller/shorter and longer/shorter during the course of the week. The children will be engaged in lots of practical, hands on activities to practise and apply their learning. The children will also be thinking about creating repeating patterns with natural objects when in our outside classroom.
We will also continue to think about our local school environment, Belonging, Autumn and also Halloween.
Please remember to follow us on Twitter – see the link at the bottom of the website. We will continue to post regular updates with photographs.
Please ensure that you book an appointment for our online Parents’ Evening on Thursday 21st October. Please speak to the office with any queries or if you require assistance.
