Reception have been working so hard this half term and will definitely be ready for a well earned holiday!
Our Rhyme of the Week this week is ‘1, 2, 3, 4, 5’. The children are learning this in class and it would great if they could practise at home too!
During Phonics this week, we will be reviewing all of the Phase 2 sounds and Tricky Words that we have encountered so far! Please continue to look at these with your child so that they become fluent with them.
During Literacy, we will be continuing our work on the story ‘Stuck in the Mud’ and we will be thinking all about the structure of the story. The children will be ‘boxing up’ the story into its beginning, middle and end.
In Maths, we will be having a big focus on subitising up to 3. The children will be learning to recognise different visual representations of these numbers, including the Numberlings from Numberblocks!
We will also continue our work on Belonging, Autumn, Navigating our way around school and thinking about growth and change related to Ourselves.
Please send in Reading folders and their contents EVERY day!! Words will be added to your child’s word tub as appropriate. Please continue to practise these as often as possible!
Please check your child’s bag on a daily basis for letters and other important information – we have a busy time after half term with lots of lovely activities and special things planned!
Many thanks for your continued support over this half term – the children have settled really well and we are very proud of them indeed.
Have a restful half term and we look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 2nd November for an action packed week, learning about Halloween, Diwali and Bonfire Night!
