This week in YR, we will begin our work on ‘Dear Santa’! It won’t be long now until the big day!! Excitement is already building!!
We will be doing lots of guided writing this week, in preparation for next week’s letter writing. We will also be labelling objects using our knowledge of sounds. During Phonics this week, we will be introducing the sounds/digraphs ‘sh’, th, ng, nk’ and the tricky words ‘she, he, of’. Please practise these at home with your child.
During our Maths Mastery sessions, we will be focusing on making comparisons using the vocabulary ‘more than’ and ‘fewer than’ – please use ‘fewer than’ opposed to ‘less than’ if working on this at home!
Our Rhyme of the Week is ‘Little Boy Blue’ – one that the children are a lot less familiar with. I’m sure that the children will look forward to teaching it to you at home!
We will continue practising our Christmas Production. Homework at the moment is to learn the lines sent home last Wednesday. A letter was sent out regarding costumes. Please ask if you have any queries Homework folders will not, therefore, be collected in and sent out again this week or next. Please continue to read with your child regularly and comment in their Reading Diary. Please also practise the tricky words in your child’s word tub – these will continue to be added to as appropriate.
YR children will be having their individual school photographs taken on Wednesday 1st December.
Our YR Christmas Performance will be held on Friday 10th December at 9.15a.m.
Many thanks for your continued support,
The Reception Team
