Welcome back! We hope that you all had a lovely Christmas. A massive thank you for all of the lovely Christmas wishes, cards and gifts that we received. We were very overwhelmed by your generosity. Thank you again!
We are looking forward to starting our second term with a whole school Literacy project based upon the poem ‘My Lonely Garden’ and also the brilliant text ‘Errol’s Garden’ written by Gillian Hibbs. We have lots of lovely activities planned based on the two pieces and can’t wait to get started!
During our Maths Mastery sessions this week, we will be revisiting work on parts and wholes and also looking at the composition of numbers 3, 4 and 5. Homework for this week is linked to this – please refer to the homework sheet sent in your child’s Homework folder on Wednesday and return the work the following Monday.
In Phonics, we will be learning the new sounds ‘ai, ee, igh, oa’ and revising the Tricky Words taught so far. We will be applying our phonics to read words and sentences with increasing fluency.
Our new Rhyme of the Week will be ‘Doctor Foster Went to Gloucester’. Please practise this at home with your child.
Reading practise sessions will continue as normal, so please ensure that your child has their Reading folder and contents with them on a daily basis. Words will continue to be added to your child’s word tub as appropriate and Reading Challenge books will continue to be changed on a weekly basis, on a Friday – when stickers and badges will be awarded!
