Possible Return to School

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and well.

As you will now be aware, the government would like schools to reopen to Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 children from Monday 1st June 2020. In order to prepare for this and to ensure the safety of all children, parents and staff, we would like you to let us know if your child/ren will be attending school when we are open to those year groups.

Please can you provide us with this information by Monday 18th May at 12pm using this registration form on our school website. A separate registration form will be needed for each child. If you do not have access to the internet, please call the school office to let us know. The DfE has advised that parents will not be fined for non-attendance.

I am sure you will appreciate that there are a great many factors to consider when planning the reopening including: classroom allocation, timetabling, staffing requirements, safe movement around the site for children, parents and staff, including the potential staggering of pick up/drop off and lunchtime arrangements. Therefore a prompt response will greatly assist us with the preparations.

In accordance with the current government guidelines, our school will be carefully considering adaptations in order to enable the children to return safely. The children will be split into groups and we will manage the movement of children around school to avoid mixing groups. This will include staggered break and lunchtimes, not holding assemblies, and competitive sports. As a result, the children could be in a different classroom from the one they are used to and they may be with different teaching staff in the short term. We are aware the changes could be unsettling and as always we will support the children in every way we can.

Please be assured the health and safety of all pupils and staff will be the overarching priority and if we feel that this is compromised in any way, we will not open the school until it is safe to do so.

Once all the registration forms have been received and the school has conducted a thorough review of need, I will be in a position to advise you of specific arrangements and protocols in line with the latest government guidance.

May I take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support at this difficult time and look forward to seeing the children back at school.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs R Davis
