YR Week Commencing 30.11.20

Christmas is definitely on the way in Reception! We have Santa’s Grotto under development, Christmas themed small world and a new ‘Hot Chocolate Station’ in the Outside classroom! The trees will soon be dusted off and decorations put up, advent calendars are ready to go and we are practising our very special YR Christmas performance!

In Phonics this week, we will be learning the new sounds y, z, zz and qu. The children will also be focusing on the words: are, we, my and was

Our Rhyme of the Week will be: Little Miss Muffet.  The children will be practising this frequently during the week and will also be discussing any unfamiliar vocabulary within the nursery rhyme e.g. tuffet.

In Maths Mastery, we will be meeting a new Numberling: 7! We will be thinking carefully about the composition of 7 and representing it in lots of different ways (same value but different appearance!).

Please continue to check your child’s bag for important letters, homework and words to practise. Please can we also remind you that all children need their Reading Folders (with contents!) in their bag on a daily basis, so that they are prepared for our Guided Reading sessions.

Many thanks for your continued support.
