Year 1 home learning week commencing 11/01/21

Thank you for all your kind words and for supporting the children so well at home as we began our home learning online this week. We have been amazed at how well the children have adapted – well done Year 1!

Please find below our timetable of lessons for week 2.

Spring2A Home learning timetable week 2

We will be starting our Teams reading groups from 9-9.30am on Monday. We will read with one group each day, so over the course of the week all children will have be asked to attend. The rest of the children will be asked to read independently during this time.

Mondays – Ladybirds (1NJ) and Lions (1JS).

Tuesdays – Bees (1NJ) and Tigers (1JS)

Wednesdays – Caterpillars (1NJ) and Leopards (1JS)

Thursdays – Snails (1NJ) and Cougars (1JS)

Fridays – Butterflies (1NJ) and Cheetahs (1JS)

Mondays will now also follow our usual routine of spelling tests. The spellings for next week are now on Spell Anywhere. Please practise these for the test on Monday morning.

Children who are attending school on Tuesdays should come in their P.E kit please. This will be our usual P.E day for everyone. Please bring pumps in a bag in wet or snowy weather.

Any documents or worksheets which require printing to support lessons during the week will be posted under Files – Please print in Teams. All past lesson presentations can also be found under the relevant folder in Files should you wish to revisit lessons or for lessons which have been missed.

Children have been asked to complete 2 exciting projects over this half term! The first is to research, plan and create their own house based on buildings from the time of the Great Fire of London. All relevant information is in their home learning pack. The second is to create a self-portrait in the style of Frida Kahlo. This will be completed partly during our art lessons. Final work and photos for both should be uploaded under the relevant Assignment in Teams.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or to send in children’s work:

Many thanks again for your continued support.

Best wishes

Mrs Johnston and Mr Storer
